Tens of thousands of garlic lovers are flocking to the Isle of Wight this August for the return of the annual Garlic Festival. With lots of activities, entertainment, arts and crafts, live music and - most importantly - delicious garlic food to enjoy, it promises to be a weekend of fun for all ages.
Why not come and enjoy the unique 60s festival atmosphere for yourself? Solent Super Yacht Charters offers luxury motor yacht travel to and from the Isle of Wight for parties of up to 12 and more.
Garlic GaloreHeld every year in Sandown (not far from the famous Garlic Farm), the Garlic Festival plays host to local producers and vendors from all over the island and beyond.
There's all sorts of weird and wonderful flavour combinations to sample and purchase. As well as garlic condiments, dressings and jams, there's also a range of freshly cooked snacks including garlic bread, mushrooms, sweetcorn and chilli, and even bizarre creations such as garlic popcorn, ice cream and fudge. You can even try a garlic beer - or enjoy a more traditional beverage - at the festival's giant beer tent.
Meanwhile at the festival's Theatre Kitchen, chefs, farmers, scientists and other garlic experts will be giving a variety of live presentations and demonstrations. Here you can learn about the history of garlic farming, the health benefits of the bulb and how to utilise it in your own recipes.
And don't worry if your taste buds grow weary of garlic - there's not only plenty of non-garlic food to enjoy as well, but also a wide variety of entertainment and attractions. There's live music performances by top island bands throughout the day, plus funfair rides, falconry displays, archery, model railways and a huge range of arts and craft stalls to explore.
